Nothing better than the Carribean Sea & Tequila!

I haven't blogged for so long that I forgot how to do it. So many things have happened. I started going to uni as I finally figured out which path I wanted to go with my career, well somewhat haha. Not being used to the school, test, school, test, work, school, exam lifestyle I feel pretty drained which makes me wish I was just on a tropical island again sipping a colorful fruity yet boozy drink and feeling the effects of it while watching the waves. These are some photos from my last trip to the Mayan Riviera, Mexico.

My favourite drink - Ojos Verdes - Green Eyes

I saw a Barracuda! Photos to come!

Iguanas are the pigeons of Mexico. They're everywhere! haha I love iguanas, I wanted to adopt one.

Whimsical Hair Treats

I am very excited to have started making Hair Accessory pieces named Whimsical Hair Treats! I have opened up my etsy store where you can purchase these items here: Whimsical Hair Treats

It's alot of fun making, designing them, and hunting down specific elements at craft stores. I am insired my candy, alice in wonderland(of course!), whimsical forests, seas, mermaids, and sea creatures, victorian eras, stories and books.

I make hand made tulle flowers and design with feathers, swarowski crystals and gems/stones as well as other elements which are then attached to a sturdy pretty alligator clip at the back.

I love peacock feathers! Especially how the change colors in the sun and flash gold, green and teal.

Nautical inspired, I love seahorses and anything to do with the beach.

This one was inspired by the Mad Hatter because it's as colorful as he is! It also reminds me of carnival/circus shows with "freak of nature" characters.

This is one of my favourites as I love girly colors of lavender with pink and pink polka dot feathers with natural feathers.

My First Creation!

I call this the Bleeding Heart Piece with an irridescent Swarowski Heart Pendant.

This is one of my mini's and it reminds me of a cute little candy.

Camping and Gold Digging in Tulameen, BC

I went camping with my boyfriend in a secluded family owned camp site in Tulameen, BC. It was suprisingly really warm in the night but perhaps its because we had so many blankets in our tent. Our chihuahua, Bambi also came along and he growled inside the tent if anyone walked near it even though he was underneath lots of blankets. hehe What I liked about camping with him is that I didn't have to worry where he pooed or peed for once. haha

I was getting better from a cold when we went and I had some strong cough syrup with some beers so when I went to the bathroom in the night with a flashlight, I thought I saw a demon deer and rushed back to my tent hahaha.

I always feel like summer ends so quickly without me doing everything I wanted to do, but I am happy I got to enjoy being in nature.

I love watching the long trees rustle in the wind, butterflies and dragonflies flutter everywhere in the sunlight, then the light slowly vanishing into dark as the eagles sit on top of the highest tree, while the creek never ceases to stop flowing and making sounds of water. I even love the sound of the rain when it hits the tent at night.

Gold- Mining with a Sluice Box.

Water is drawn into the box via pump where the heavier, dense material such as gold is trapped and lighter material migrates out.

Believe it or not, this is around $100 worth of gold.

This is the watery road on the way to the camp site. It was very whimsical. I took a photo of the flower with the road in the background.

Bambi swimming, he hated it. He was quickly swimming back to shore.

The creek which never stops flowing.

Bambi being a cutie.

Mmmmmmm melted marshmallows!

There were some really beautiful, unique clouds at sunset beside my boyfriends families house. They looked like cotton candy space shuttles.

The big long cloud must have been a huge alien space ship in disguise, at least that's what I like to believe.

On the drive back to Vancouver, I loved the big foamy clouds over the mountains.

Being an Orange Head!

I have wanted to dye my hair a shade of red for a long time and have been natural for years so I was eager for a change so when I got a modeling offer where a salon owner from a popular salon in Yaletown wanted to dye my hair "light copper red" for a photo shoot hair competition, I was very excited. Light copper red sounds like a nice wearable shade right? Little did I know he actually meant "bright bright orange". When I saw the orange in the mirror I would have freaked out if he didn't say he would change the color after the photo shoot.

He dyed my hair twice to get the color, first he lightened to a light orange color, then added more bright orange the second time. It came out more dark orange on the head even though my hair was all the same natural color. After I washed it once though, everything became even.

It was fun being an orange head for a week, my bf called me "crush" after the pop drink and people would stare. Some girl came up to me sephora and asked if it was natural hair color and how much she loved it haha.

After the photo shoot, I went red hair magazine scouting and bought a magazine with the shade of red I wanted so I could show the salon stylist. He dyed my hair the perfect shade I wanted, however later I looked up the color online and found out it was a demi-permanent shade instead of permanent, and it literally washed out in 3 hair washings and became almost the orange I started out with. The color was by Joico Vero K-Pak Chrome.

I don't know why he dyed it with a demi color when I clearly wanted permanent and red hair fades fast to begin with. I also disliked that he rushed through dyeing my hair to get me out as quickly as possible so he could work on his paying client. He put me under an uncomfortable heat lamp for the longest time and if I knew he wasn't going to do anything after, I would have left much earlier. The other model getting her hair re-dyed by another stylist, got hers blow dried and straightened normally and she left much earlier than I did. He also missed an orange patch in my hair. I put alot of time into coming into the salon twice so he could work on my hair and then the whole day at the actual photo shoot when he was working on other models. You would think, with the time I put in, he would spend a little more time re-dyeing my hair properly. Hopefully, I at least get a good photo out of the whole ordeal.

I ended up re-dyeing my hair "intense red copper" permanent this time at home with my boyfriends help and I really like the color (photos to come).

Anyways this is my hair colouring adventure story. haha

Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver, BC

One of the things I wanted to do was visit new places I haven't been before within my area. We visited the Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver which I really enjoyed. It's a relatively small park with effortless trails and a beautiful river. They also have a suspension bridge which I didn't get any photos of as I was too busy making sure, Bambi, my new chihuahua didn't fall off hehe.

Bambi, our new chihuahua loves going out but did not appreciate us dunking his paws into the cold water. He's so adorable, he follows me everywhere and will not leave a place without me.

He looks sleepy here even though he wasn't at all. His ears remind me of Gizmo in his cute state of course.

The river was very whimsical green as well as super clear and super cold.

This crazy bird was getting a drink from the intense flowing river.

He's dunking his whole head in, I don't know how he did NOT get swept away. ;P

MAC Surf Baby Preview Party Review

I have gone to several MAC preview parties in the past and all of them have been super fun for me until this one. Upon coming in, I was told to go line up at a booth where you would get a free shirt to get painted. I observed that people were being handed free blank t-shirts when it was their turn and then they would choose a design which the guy at the booth would paint on using stencils. I thought well that's a fun idea! Wrong.

Shortly after, a mac employee with teal shadow up to her brows (was not a cool look on her Ill be honest) stole the bin of shirts from the booth and approached us saying that we could have our own shirt stenciled but if we wanted a shirt we would have to make a purchase. We were allready in the middle of the line and my friends didn't get a chance to look at the collection yet so they didn't know what they wanted but I did so I went and made a purchase and gave the shirt to my little sister. I was given a shirt and was told the shirts were all one size when they actually had small, medium and larges. Teal lady said they would give them out randomly and she did not wish to bother exchanging the sizes if someone was too big or too small for their shirt.
Actually, she would not even give my friend a free shirt after she made a purchase even though she informed us we would herself, because she was saving it for other people that were apparently way more important than us because they haven't made a purchase yet. Wow.

When my sister made a purchase, a different employee turned to another employee (the one who told me they had one size only)and said "can she get a shirt?" and she replied "no give her a bandana". This white bandana looked liked a napkin you put on your knees at a restaurant. I said "we were told with a purchase we would get a shirt" and she replied "these are my orders" while the crazy teal lady smiled. I didn't bother arguing as I didn't feel like standing 1 hour in line for the booth again and I didn't even care about their cheap shirts but it still irritated me that we were lied to. If you inform a customer one thing, then don't change your words after they made a purchase. The woman who said no was also the same woman who got my sale, but she's not getting another sale from me that's for sure! The shirts were supposed to be a fun thing but it was soo poorly planned and organized that it just made me feel ripped off.

Perhaps, we should have said we want to return all the items or accepted the bandana napkin and used it when the toilet paper ran out I don't know.

Now that I am done ranting, let's move on to the actual products haha:

Overall, the collection was very blah. I much prefered last years To The Beach collection and everyone got cute seashell necklaces.

The stand out for me in this collection is definately Surf the Ocean pigment stack. When you look in the way they are packaged, you may think these are not worth it but the texture of the colors are awesome. They are wet-like and apply very easily even though some look chunky in the pot. I prefer applying them wet as I do with everything these days.

Some people have wondered if their gold shade was supposed to so clumpy but it is due to wet like texture of the pigment which I personally love. I wish MAC would release more of these. It does have an oil like smell to it but I just don't smell it before use as I do with the vanilla smelling lipsticks.

The second item I loved best is the Hibiscus lipstick. It's a cremesheen formula which is my new favourite Mac lipstick formula. It's creamy and builable to opaque. The color is orange-coral-red on me. It's different than Toxic Tale which is more intense and coral on me. Made with love lipstick is more pink coral.

I also got Naturally Eccentric lipstick which I am on the fence about. It looked streaky when I applied it alone and if you swoosh your lips around(which I have a habit of doing), it looks more streaky. I was going to return it but I liked it when I applied a light pink lipgloss on top which helped with the streakyness but Iam unsure still. It makes me look more tan than I am.

The teal shadow is nice if you don't have teals on the green side but really is not all that unique. The color reminded me of my Waternymph shadow which I never use but love. (How does that work? haha).

The Ocean dip nail polish was very watery and for the price I expect the formula to be perfect.

Nothing else stood out to me. I guess the upside of the party was getting buzzed from their watery tequila cocktails and getting my surf the ocean pigment stack.

Here is the booth artist guy. (He was nice.)

Here is the one shirt that I gave to my sister. It's an octopus.
